Club Etiquette

In the world of sport golf stands out as the last bastion of good etiquette, fair play and fine sportsmanship. Long may that continue at Hallowes.

As a golf club we pride ourselves on the condition, layout and presentation of the course. We ask all golfers to help our greenstaff create their vision of the course by properly replacing divots, raking bunkers and repairing pitch marks on the greens. We really can’t stress the importance of replacing pitch marks enough. 

Through both dry and wet conditions, we would ask that golfers avoid taking their trolley’s close to the greens and onto the tee boxes. Please keep trolleys and buggies to the designated routes. 

Speed of play is always a contentious issue throughout the world of golf, but it is one that needs to be addressed. In recent years our course has seen a transformation to remove unneccesary bushes and overgrowth, which should make ball finding much easier and quicker in the 3 minutes that you are allowed to take! 

Lastly, Please be aware of those in front and behind you to ensure that you are keeping up with play. If you have to, let your pride subside for a moment and let people through if you have fallen more than a hole and a half behind.

Dress Code

When it comes to Dress Code on the course we believe that if you look the part then you will feel better for it. Golf has a long tradition of clothing etiquette, and whilst times are changing we believe in adhering to a modern approach to these. 

We would expect appropriate golfing attire on the golf course with appropriate golf shoes to be worn on the course at all times. You’re able to wear shorts but please ensure these are appropriately tailored and worn with long, athletic or trainer socks.

Golf fashion is changing all the time and we want our members and visitors to be able to embrace these trends, shirts designed not to be tucked in are available as are hoodies etc, but please remember to "look the part".

We wouldn’t expect to see tracksuits, jeans, football shirts or trainers on the golf course.

In the clubhouse the dress code is more relaxed, for example non golfing attire such as smart jeans and trainers are allowed. However, on more formal occasions the dress code will be notified in advance.
